Cupcake Inspirations

Another Christmas past and another year looms i hope you had a lovely Christmas!

I finally got round to getting my card made for the Cupcake Inspirations challenge!
My husband has a friend that celebrates Chinese New Year (and always comes round with a money wallet for the boys )and each year I wrack my brains for something to give him cardwise ! (any of the stamp companies do anything for this do you know?) my idea this year ..yeah I was desperate! was to link his old home with his new one .

So I went with the colours that you expect of chinese New year of red and gold and the bells for ringing out the old year as we do here ...are you following so far??? I couldnt for the life of me get the Chinese words to print and be seen on my card so settled for just Happy New year! :)

Thank you for taking the time to look

Muse Dt

This is the last challenge of this year over at Muse so thought I would wish everyone  a Happy new Year!!!!..... and what better way to do that than by a card!

I started by creating two backgrounds with 3 colours of chalks (if you prefer use distress inks Im just useless with them!) navy ,purple and blue. One slightly lighter then the other and then cut the numbers out and then used a small clearly besotted skyline along the bottom of each before colouring in the windows with a yellow promarker and yes you guessed itI made a mistake and had to cover it with the sentiment on a spare strip of paper :)

Finally I would just like to say I hope 2017 is the best year ever for you as this last year being part of the Muse team has been for me! Many thanks to the other DT's and all those that take part in our fun challenge.

Lang may yer lum reek!!!

(Scottish saying wishing you a long and healthy life)
p.s think Ill enter my card over at Cas on sunday too where they are asking for New Year Cards!

Thank you for taking the time to look

Muse DT

My turn to be the Muse for  this weeks Challenge and I have made a one layer card - and after the weeks of decorating and shifting rooms about I was in the mood for either a large wine or a bit of crafty therapy I opted for the crafty therapy...... first! :)

I used all clearly besotted products coloured with flexmarkers, su ink and a xcut punch for the flowers, simple but hopefully it is enough to inspire you !

Maybe it will be the sheep ,puny sentiment ,flowers ,colours??? that get the crafty juices flowing ....but one thing I do know, I cant wait to see what you create in the gallery!

As the theme over at Cupcake Inspirations is thank you this week too will be add it to their blog as well

...and many thanks for taking a peek over at mine

MCV/The 25 Days of Christmas Tags

I am for the first time taking part in Tracey McNeelys 25 days of Christmas tags which is already at day 16!  and i also made a tag for the Muse challenge at the same time which this week says   to use vellum on your tag.

I found inspiration from Lindsays tag with a few modifications of my own...I used a paper smooches tag out of white card and vellum .I then went with Lindsays colours of blue and white.Making one snowflake the main focus and added some liquid pearls (I know, I know I do this all the time but what can I say I like the effect!)to mimic the ones on Lindsays tag and finally a banner with a sentiment.... and to finish it off I curled my ribbon just as Linday has!

Thanks for taking a peek !

Cupcake inspirations 383

Firstly I would like to apologise for the poor quality of photo its now the time of dark nights and dark mornings here in Scotland so that means really poor light for taking photos...and this is even being enhanced with picasa!
I am really enjoying taking part in the Cupcake Inspiration challenges but this weeks nearly stumped me until I remembered this old stamp by Inkylicious

I inked it and lightly pressed it to the paper in a dark brown like the cupcake tree and then used the other colours to make the light in the window and the green trees.
I added some liquid pearls to make the falling snow, on the lightly chalked the background.
The sentiment is the one that came with the image .
Thanks you for taking the time to look

MCV 68

Over at Muse:Christmas Visions Jeanne has given us not only a pretty in pink Christmas card but a prize to be won too !wahoo

I chose to take my inspiration from Jeannes bauble with stripes peeking through and Jeannes stripey background (although I used white  horizontal stripes ...well it is all about inspiration isn't it ?? ;0 )
I also took inspiration from her snowflakes and gems centres. To finish I used the Merry Christmas as my sentiment but stamped rather than die cut and finally I added the string to my bauble to finish.

Thanks for popping in  by for a visit!

CASology

It has been a looong time since I joined in over at CASology and I am wondering why now there is so much inspiration over there!

This week as you can see the cue word is CURE and  after my other feel better card I felt the urge to do another. We know there is no cure for the common cold but one thing you definitely need is a box of tissues!:)

I paper pieced the paper smooches images and cut them out before adhering to foam tape and then matted it and added the paper smooches sentiment to finish it off.

Many thanks for popping in to visit !

Cupcake Inspiration 381

Thought I'd show you a bit more of the sparkle though its much more sparkly in RL!

When I  saw this weeks photo inspirations over at Cupcake Inspirations I was delighted...... one of my best friends has been in a rally car accident and though they are both a bit battered and bruised they are both fine... Thankfully!,( as they were travelling at over 100 mph!! )

So my eyes were drawn to the plasters and the colours and how there was three rows so I took my inspiration from that, and as I will be sending it to my friend who does love a bit of sparkle :) I added a wink of stella and a few gems.
I used a Paper smooches image and sentiment.

Thank you for popping in to see me today!

Cupcake Inspirations 380

I headed over to Cupcake Inspirations this week looking for inspiration and I found it !

My stock of emergency birthday cards is getting low so decided to break out the water colour wonder set by Altenew and make a card using the colours. It didnt look right on a white card base and then I happened to notice what the cupcakes were sitting on so went with a coloured card base instead.
A few sequins and wink of stella to make it sparkle a bit and another card for the box done!

Thank you for taking the time to look I really do appreciate it!

MCV 65

This week Kimberley at the Muse Christmas Challenge has given us a really cute and fun card!
I took my inspiration from her white card and circle to begin with, and then i couldn't resist using my Mama Elephant penguins again I just love them they are so versatile !!

To mimic Kimberleys snow angel I had my penguin (complete with red woolly hat like Kimberley's monkey ) jump into the snowdrift (he was meant to slide down it but I moved it by mistake and you would have seen the glue so now hes jumping!!) but I actually think it looks like he is jumping on top of the sentiment now....what do you think??
I versamarked some snowflakes on before applying my blue chalk but didn't like it much so added some 'hailstones' with liquid pearls.

Well I am amazed how much of my Christmas cards I have made now which will leave me plenty of time to do my 'special' ones .

Thank you for taking the time to look

Stamping sensations

*** One for The Boys ***

                                                               (stamping sensation)

I had to make a birthday card for a friend of ours and found it a bit challenging so fell back on a favourite  technique of mine ...two colours one image !.
As our friend is an avid football fan made it in his teams colours .For the life of me can't remember who makes the image but know its from a set! and the sentiment is an Altenew one
.
Thanks for taking the time to look

Cupcake Inspirations 376

I always seem to do the same challenges every time so this week I headed over to the paper playful  site that has a list of challenges for every day of the week and all styles, and found the
Cupcake Inspirations  challenge which had the above inspiration photo .
I really wanted to work on my watercolouring as I am pretty dire at it so thought I would give it a go with a SSS set and some MFT ink pads to make the colours deeper
.
As you can see the watercolouring is still a work in progress !!
Thanks for taking the time to look !

Muse DT 184

Hi there can't believe that this week is Muse's 184th challenge!!!

I had made two cards for the  Altenew challenge and decided to keep this watercolour wonder one for this weeks challenge.

I used versamagic sea breeze  ink to make the flower I thought that I wouldn't see the markings( and would have to do second generation stamping )  just using the same in on top again but it worked beautifully and stood out perfectly !!! and I even managed to shade it around the matting paper using my distress tool.

The leaves are Memento bamboo ink and the sentiment is from Altenew too.

A few of you have being asking me whereIi get my linen card from and just wanted to say that I get it from my local paper mill where the sell off their excess in a onsite craft shop .This linen card is meant to be for weddings but I love it for all of my special projects !!.

I do hope you will join us this week and can't wait to see your  creations in the gallery!
Many thanks for taking the time to look

Sevenhills Craft Challenge

I thought I would also join in with this months fun challenge over at Seven hills Craft Challenge where they have given us this great layout!
I struggled at first but then I used Lawn fawns Lets Bokeh set for the circles (or portholes!)and the sentiment and checked with the rules and I think Im ok to use clearly besotted robots for the centres.... is that right Tara??? they fitted so perfectly!
I then coloured them with promarkers and flexmarkers and added the dotted background in what I hope looks like party confetti!

Thank you for taking the time to look

I used Altnews say cheese stamp set as I thought it would  work well for a male anniversary card and must say have had it a while but never inked it up but boy is it easy to use.... love it !
The camera is a 3 - step stamp but so easy to line up and as you see I actually made two cards !
Hope to see you in the gallery

MCV 61

I haven't joined in for a while over at MCV, but this week I managed to get a card done .
I loved the modern look of Kimberley's card so I kinda kept to the colours and the used the wreath and bow as inspiration ( mine is W9) I diecut the wreath out twice to make it pop out a bit more ,and for the sparkle I used some red stickles.
Even with missing a few weeks I have already got half my Christmas cards made one job nearly ticked off!
Thanks for taking the time to look

Muse DT

Can't believe that the school holidays are over already where did the six weeks go !
But never mind at least when this posts over at Muse I will have done my first morning in and only another 8 weeks to go before the next holidays  :)
Again I used  a linen look card because when you use such a small image it fills in the white space and  I feel that it makes your  image pop more .
I punched the candles out and diecut out the square, backed them first with the glittery paper and then with orange card before die cut out another square .finally stamped my sentiment...thank goodness for the mini misti!

This sounds such an EXTREMELY simple card doesn't it?? well it took me 5 goes to do the row of candles evenly spaced out and then it took 4 goes to get the orange of the flames to be all even too !! why ?? I don't know:)

Hoping it will inspire you to join in with us this week ....maybe you'll find your candles will be on a cake or will it be the rainbow colours or the glitter paper ???what ever inspires you I can't wait to see you in the gallery!

P.s and thanks for taking the time to look

Cas-ual Friday

Its our anniversary in a couple of weeks and although I know my husband prefers cards that have more humour than lovey dovey on them ,,,,this time I thought I'd give him more of a punny card!

Image and sentiment are from Clearly besotted and as I used flex markers , promarkers and chalk for the background thought it would fit the challenge over at Cas-ual  Friday which is to use your favourite colouring medium ..well I have used all of my favourites !
Thank you for popping over and taking the time to look!

Muse DT

This week for Muse I am still determined to try new layouts !

Well maybe not that new :) but using soft grey cardstock I cut out  a 5x5 card .I cut out the centre circle using avery elle pierced circles .I cut a regular circle slightly smaller and stamped it with an Altenew sentiment.Laid it aside and made my MFT flashy florals .(Love this set so easy to use!)

Finally I popped the slightly smaller circle in the space (I was going to leave the circle open but think I prefer the thin empty space between the two circles).

Hope my card inspires you to join in with us this week and cant wait to see you in the gallery!

Thanks for looking

MCV 53

Whenever I saw Chriss's beautiful inspiration card this week at MCV I know what I wanted to do...

Using a Poppy die for the poinsettia's I cut  3 of them out  and coloured in the leaves with  a flexmarker ...love these!  I added a dot of liquid pearls in the centre and then mounted my card in gold mirror card as my panel wasn't popping out enough .Then added that to my main card that had a textured surface.
Oh and I loved how Chriss had added the supplies that she had used so I was inspired to do that to :)

A very simple and traditional card but one I could recreate easily , but for now another card done !

Thank you for taking the time to look

Time out challenge

-
"Wherever you go, no matter what the weather, always bring your own sunshine"
Anthony J. D'Angelo

This is the word inspiration over at the TIME OUT challenge
...and as we are sadly lacking any sun at the moment I found myself drawn to make a sunshiney card !

I used an old stencil that was languishing in a drawer and a hero arts sentiment ,I would have prefered a pair of sunglasses rather than the heart but unfortunately I had none! so went instead with the Su punched heart with a swipe of wink of stella .

Thanks for taking the time to look

Case this sketch 178

When I saw this weeks sketch over at CASe this Sketch an idea popped into my head straight away!

I know someone who will be moving house soon ,so decided to do a card for her!
I did follow the sketch pretty closely just really popped a roof on it :)

As my friend is partial to a bit of DP paper (mine is from MFT) added that in her favourite neutral colours for the house. Looked a bit plain so added a (Slightly overgrown ) garden . The sentiment is a bit small I know but it says ' Home is where the heart is ' .
I'm hoping you have guessed who it is destined for Michele ???
 :)

Thanks for taking the time to look

Muse Dt 172

My turn again to be DT  at Muse ....the months are sure flying by!and I did a really simple layout this week but I love it! so far I have made a batch of these in different designs and hoping that it will inspire you too!
I started off by stamping a hero arts butterfly then coloured it with my old faithful chalks - yellow and blue, before punching them out with  SU punches.

I still have cards left over from the wedding invitations so as the layout is so simple thought the textured background would make it pop more ...maybe I should look for a linen look embossing folder!
I then stamped the sentiment with my Misti ( this is one tool I could not do without now!)
Finally I  placed them and added the bling .
Wonder what you will take inspiration from butterflies ?,colours? bling ? layout or whatever pops into your head !

Look forward to seeing you in the gallery -
and thank you for taking the time to look

MCV 50

I am delighted to see as our Guest designer over at the MCV challenge Elizabeth Stewart! She makes the most beautiful cards and this one is a Christmas stunner...look at all that sparkle ,whats not to love!
I found my eyes being drawn to the circles and how they all touched one another in some way ,the snowflakes and of course that sparkly paper.
I  punched the circles and die cut out 2 sets of  the snowflakes before fitting the white ones back in - boy what a fiddly job it was getting all the sparkly bits from the other set to fit inside the snowflakes (needed a glass of wine when I had finished!!! )
Using the sparkly set of snowflakes I then added them so that they touched their neighbours and finally stamped the sentiment in blue before heat embossing the sentiment in white on the vellum.I had hoped it would add a shadow to the embossed sentiment but unfortunately it didn't work :( but thanks for taking the time to look
