more male cards

Last day before I go back to work tomorrow and decided to have a play about,as usual need more male cards- definite shortage of woman in our family!- and this is what I came up with, think with male cards it's best to keep it simple !Any way the first thing my son's do is to check for money so will be adding a little money pouch inside.
           Thanks for looking x

sketch

This week at Less is more it is Sketch week .
They have asked..

...As it's a very simple sketch,  we would like it to remain as is without any rotation of either the card or the vertical band.

Grrr blogger is playing up and it's driving me insane !!! does anyone else have problems with blogger? Always looks o.k in the preview but when you publish it's all over the place!,and then out of the blue it decided to remove half of what I had just typed!!!!
Sorry lets try again... I decided to make a Valentine card for my OH this week .Printed the sentiment out first , it is called Filofax girl (another skill that I've learnt through the blogging community- how to download fonts! ), the patterned paper is from a reed diffuser packaging and used the stamping up punch for the hearts then added the requisite gems (wouldn't be from me without them :-))
Thanks for taking the time to look and love when you leave comments !
P.s Thanks and welcome too to my new followers x

"Cut it Out"

It's that time again - The Less is more challenge! couldn't manage last week but making sure this week (but hoping it meets the criteria), rushed through the washing ironing( confess did a bit more folding than ironing) etc to have the afternoon to play!! hee he.
Lots of male cards to make in the coming weeks and saw this free James bond download in a magazine and just had to give it a go.Took me ages to get it to resize and get it to the size I wanted but got there in the end.
Started off with black card layered up the white and a strip of red.Cut out a circle using the spellbinders  circle dies and two more in silver and red, added the sentiment and voila one male card .
Like to welcome my new followers and thank them for their kind comments, now off to return the compliment and check out the fab cards for this weeks challenge. x

Colour wheel tag challenge

Hi there at the Craft Barn this week the challenge is to make a colourful tag.Been wanting to do one of these for a while think they're great, but the problem is that I like the 'arty' ones with lots of different techniques and 'bits' on them - but when I do it it just looks messy !!!, and it doesn't  help that I think if you make something it should have a purpose and decorative isn't enough! So decided to use the tag to show the techniques that I have learnt in this year of card making - Stamping ,embossing(butterflies),masking and
using distress inks (hard to believe I know but never used them until today) but only had 4colours and so inked all over the tag in mustard seed then added barn door ,rusty hinge ,and immediately thought of a sunset - again, but I do like these little scenes :-) and the dark shade in front of the sun is old paper.
Then added a little reminder to myself at the bottom "Keep It Simple" (cut out from an old dictionary). sorry but it is so small that it just doesn't photograph well.
And thanks to Avril ,will now also be entering it into Fashionable Challenges who's theme is butterflies or bugs.
Thanks for taking the time to look x

Ribbon

The challenge over at Gingersnaps Creations is for ribbon on your work, and found another challenge over at Sir Stampalot   for Monochromatic colours hopefully this card will meet both !,  Decided to have a go at different challenges after a friend urged me to broaden my horizons and have a go and must say enjoying them immensely!
The colour is Rich Razzleberry from SU as is  the ribbon and the image .The sentiment is one that I use ALL the time just love it and it's suitable for all occassions.
Thanks for looking x

Predominately Purple

Happy New Year  and the first challenge of the year for Less is More ... yay!
Didn't realise how much this challenge has become a way of life until last Saturday morning... good job I managed to fill the day preparing for our guests coming for Hogmanay !
But back to the challenge..
Decided that I wanted to use BIG flowers but I had nothing suitable, so drew them instead, (using odd scraps of card, then coloured them in with promarkers highlighted in black ink) added some clear stickles to the centres just so that they glitter a little bit when the light hits them and then stamped with my all time favourite sentiment so versatile and that is it!
P.s I also managed to download and use Picasa over the hols so hopefully my pictures will be clearer!

Soft yellow and white

Had a look at the Gingersnap Creations Challenge and the Colour Challenge of soft yellow and white caught my eye
I actually started out to make a card but some how the idea changed and I made a gift bag instead !.The pattern was stamped in white and then embossed and I know is difficult to see in the picture but it is much more defined in RL .
