Muse 137

I think every one knows how bad I am at using DP :) but love seeing how others just seem to pop it on a card and it looks beautiful .You just have to look at Michele's Muse inspiration card to have card envy , this is one cute card and look how clever... the typewriters instantly convey the message ! - but sorry still not converted  Michele :)

Rather than a typewriter I used the computer image from a Paper smooches set to link in with the keyboard of the typewriter, - and because my hubby works in computers and sometimes you just have to tell them how much you appreciate them!
.Next I stamped the image randomly in similar colours to the DP paper, and added hearts to the screens and on the sahara sand ones added the sentiment 'I <3 U' ( 'I love you' in case you are like me and need a helping hand with all this texting speak...I thought LOL meant lots of love for a really long time !) from the same set (though when I cut the rectangle out you can only see the one that is mostly hidden...typical !)
Mounted it on black card and placed it back in a card base before adding the speech bubble sentiment....
Before I finish just wanted to show a couple of  picture from our wee break it shows that when the sun shines in Scotland how beautiful it can really look!
took this while the car was moving and shows the road that went on for 45 mins to our hotel and each turn saw another beautiful and different view

Thanks for taking the time to look

Playing cards with Michele and friends

When Michele asked me to play cards with her I said yes please ! but this is a first for me and never having done it before I got it slightly wrong :( that is why we are CASing one of Michele's card ...weeeeell she did tell me to pick a card that I adored!

I loved Michele's CTS card and her feel better one ,and so wanted to give it a go but the one idea I kept coming up with was for  a masculine card and so here it is:-

Firstly,I cut two panels using a spellbinders die so they were the same height, then using my stamp-a-majig I stamped my image in black. Then stamped it again using versamark which I heat embossed  with clear embossing powder as  I wanted to keep that side of the image really crisp(but not sure if you can see it on the photo sorry) then on the red panel I stamped  in versamark and heat embossed it in white ...did the same mistake as you Michele and forgot to use my embosssing buddy!- finally stamped my sentiment ,trimmed my panels so they fitted over each other , and mounted them on black cardstock
Can't wait to see what everyone else has come up with!

Geometric Patterns

September Challenge: Geometric Patterns

Clearly Besotted were having a clear out and a lot of their stamps dies were have price and more! So when I saw this geometric set and matching dies just had to have them.

Was having a play on a scrap bit of paper when I made this pattern and no stamp-a-majig so easy to line them up.Pity (I didn't press hard enough on the last row but hey ho in RL its not so glaringly obvious! ) but still thought that I would enter it over at Virginia's View Challenge as they are looking for Geometric patterns .Feel this will do one of my  nephews, so another male card done!

The colours are SU lucky limeade and tempting turquoise.

Thanks for looking

Muse131

When  I first saw Carols beautiful colourful card  the patterns on the feathers caught my eye .I only have a small feather die and when I first tried putting on a pattern and colour to them it wasn't right somehow. Then by happy accident as I was practising on another scrap of card I turned it over and  realised I had used a piece that had a little scene on it ...and the rest was history.... : )

(The scene was one that I had been trying out for a long time friends retirement card ,he has been a fish house manager here in Aberdeen for nigh on 45 years! So I wanted something that reflected the sea and the lighthouse that he sees every day on his way to work and thought this stamp would fit the bill) Don't have a small  retirement stamp as yet:) so settled for just best wishes and will add... "on your retirement "inside.

I know that my card looks nothing like Carols card but the Muse challenge is about getting inspiration from the Muse card....she says desperately!! So here's where I got my inspiration from :-

The feathers (Can you spot them?) which are stamped and coloured with SU markers
with some of Carols colours then popped up.

The orientation of the card.

The white panel mounted on a coloured one
Sentiment under the image.

I would also like to enter this into Pixies Snippets Playground as apart from the card base the rest were made out scraps and snippets, you must head over and have a look-a lovely bunch of ladies led by Di (must say thanks Di for being one of your weekly picks )  - and not only great inspiration from the other ' snippeties' but you have a chance of winning some fab prizes! While there I noticed that there was another challenge I could enter  - The Cuttlebug Mania , as I had used my cuttlebug to cut out the panels with spellbinders nestibilities, and for my feathers used a Memory box feather die
Wow first time ever I have managed to combine 3 challenges I think :)

Thanks for taking the time to look

allsorts

This week on the ALLSORTS challenge it is a masculine theme and I must admit I do like doing male cards. I love how they  can be no fuss just plain and simple .
Well this one does have a fussy kind of stamping on it I must admit, but it is for my great nephew who will be fourteen next month and at that age they are into game boxes etc so when I saw this paper smooches stamp set it was a no brainer!
Stamped some of the images as a background then stamped a small SU happy and a Uniko Studio large birthday sentiment on top before  fussy cutting out the controller image .
Coulours used were:-
smoky slate, sahara sand and cherry cobbler all from SU
Thanks for taking the time to stop by and hope you have had a good weekend

a dogs life...

This afternoon I has a little while to play before heading out to do a few things so decided to have a browse to see if anything caught my eye and a few challenges did.
The first was The Male room Challenge where they are asking for 'Man's best friend /pet
Addicted to Stamps and More are asking for  Anything Goes!
And finally Cas on Sunday's challenge is for a Birthday to Die for (using diecuts)

I straight away knew that i wanted to use this image that a kind blogger sent me, have used it before but usually with the sentiment that's about snoring ! I coloured it in using my promarkers and then scored the bottom band of sahara sand  (reminded me of a fence or slats of a dog house !).Then printed out the words about a dog's life (would have liked it to run round the diecut circle but couldn't get it to work out :( ...but maybe next time!),
before stamping the Happy Birthday sentiment from Su on a scrap piece of the sahara sand.
Hope you are all having a great Easter weekend and hopefully the sun is shining where you are as it is here !

The Male Room Challenge no. 5

BLUE, GREEN and BROWN

I have been struggling with my blog for a wee while now and I asked for some help through with my blog and Kylie from addicted to stamps and more kindly took it on hand and WOW she has done an awesome job and made it like my favourite cards ...CAS! so a huge thank you to her :-)

While browsing through some other blogs I came across The Male Room challenge (another new one to me) and as you know I really quite enjoy doing male cards ...probably because our family is really  male heavy!!
The challenge is to use the above colours  and yes the blue is quite hard to see but I sprayed it on lightly before stamping my image and yes I meant it to be that squint ..it's meant to reflect my hubby's driving (I assure you he is the most careful driver really!)

Supplies used:- cardstock brown and blue from stash, SU lucky limeade and sahara sand
Blue ink - blue food colouring
Brown SU close to cocoa
Sentiments Su and can't remember where I got the the car and the fun sentiment though they were from the same set .
Finally the bits beside the tyres are from a set by Uniko studio -explosion

Thank you for taking a peek and off now to make the tea .....weeeeell after I've had another quick browse!! :-) x

Card concept challenge 5

This weeks challenge for the card concept is these gorgeous colours that just screamed a male card to me and ok I didn't have as bright a green as that one - but lucky LIMEade is close right?
Not quite sure which style it fits but as the rectangles are all overlapping I'm gonna go for the clean and layering or is it graphic hee he Love the different styles of the design team and finding this a fun challenge... ..just wish I had found it earlier ! hoping to try all of the styles though know I will struggle with the shabby chic but isn't that what challenges are about ??

Supplies used:-
SU lucky limeade card stock and ink
Brown and white cardstock from stash
sentiment from SU best dad ever
Thank you for looking! x

Big and bold male card

Think I might make three challenges with this card wow .... thats a first for me! Casology are looking for BOLD,and that has had me stumped until I remembered this James Bond download (took me longer to cut it out than print it!!) the boy in the sentiment to me is big and bold and of course James Bond is the ultimate bold hero, hope I'm not stretching it here :). Then this week both the Crafty Cardmakers and more and Less is More are looking for a masculine theme and so 3 challenges with one card! Hope you all have a lovely weekend too and thanks for looking x

Colour Blocks

What a truly driecht and miserable day here in the North east of Scotland I was out earlier and came back like a drowned rat and still haven't got the heat up yet....but never mind its the perfect day to take part in some challenges:-) I made a card for my friends son who will be 21 this Tuesday, and with the off cuts I made one for the challenge over at Cas-ual Friday. They are asking for colour blocks, and this is my take on it.Think I can also enter it into the Cas.ology challenge as their cue card is for CONTRAST and the colour panel is definitely a contrast to the rest of the white card -I hope anyway!....Think it's going to be destined for another friends son who has a 17th birthday next month feel this is definitely a male card this one! I find I enjoy making male cards as you can get away with such bold colours and this is my favourite colour combo of red and Island indigo and lucky limeade from SU.The sentiment is also from SU. Enjoy what's left of your weekend off to have a peek at some of your blogs x

Awesome!

Well that is Christmas over for another year :-(
but hope that a you all had a good one!

If there is one thing I love is big sentiments and this one from Uniko Studio is perfect for a male card ,had intended to add stars on the white but it just looked too cluttered so decided to let the sentiment say it all!!
Saying that it reminded me that this weeks challenge at Less is More is to pick a past challenge and I thought I would join in with week 47 -one word but after searching for it on their blog couldnt find it except in their past challenge list,so just to be safe iI thought it would also fit in with their week 79 the colour challenge using blue and green.
The cardstock is from SU lucky limeade and island indigo as is the sentiment using SU markers
Thank you for taking the time to look . x

Black background

Dark background with a splash of colour(s)

When I looked at the Less is More site yesterday I knew what I wanted to do - another male card of course , and in RL it looks just as I wanted but the photo makes it appear duller! Grrr spent more trying to get a true photo then making it.....But never mind, I used  navy and red cardstock and the stars are lucky limeade.I layered the stars up to make them stand out a bit more and  then added a tiny bit of bling to them. The sentiment is from Uniko Studio isn't it just brill, love big sentiments!
Thanks for looking ...just about to pop over and have a look at everyone elses creations x

Round and Round

Next week it is my son's 17th birthday and in the uk that is the age when they can take driving lessons, and that is all he speaks about just now who we can book for his lessons! so have been wracking my brain to think of a card for him and so went looking at my favourite challenges to seek inspiration and found it on the Less is More site with their challenge ROUND and ROUND and I shamelessly CASed both of Chrissies ...they do say that copying is the highest form of praise remember Chrissie :-) and I totally agree and thanks for the picture tutorial  for a spinner card ...though mine is more a slider card!, which I managed  no bother (well when I unstuck my fingers from the tape that is ) Did originally think of a car then realised it would roll sideways so went with the SU motorbike instead, and  computer generated the sentiment to make it  a bit more personal.
Now off to seek inspiration for a get well card for a friend who is in hospital just now.....
xXx
p.s was updating  the blog when I noticed that for some reason blogger has decided to add a pink cast to my card ! Honest the real card and the original post don't have it ...ah the wonder of blogger!!

FM105

This is a really quick card need to go out soon so had to really rush to make it but had to get it done before I go!.  I had stamped and coloured the car with promarkers - I  normally just stamp the outline -  a couple of days ago but it ended up in the reject box ,until I saw the challenge at The Friday Mashup ,had been struggling to come up with a card for my nephews birthday and hopefully this will fit the bill perfectly and I will (very carefully) write his name in the number plate nearer the time, so thank you ladies the perfect challenge for me this week.In fact have another couple  ideas  for some more .... hee he
The striped paper is from Pink Petticoat and the image is from Kanban's retro cars and the sentiment is from SU
Thanks for looking - much appreciated!x

Lime and Green

Hi everyone what an eventful week last week was!! Between the heating breaking down ,the engineer getting  told the wrong day to come, my husband handing in his notice, a weekend away ,and no.2 son getting an interview for a weekend job(while we had no heating or hot water so he had to spend the night at my brothers so he would smell lovely and hair was just so for the interview..and delighted to say he got it !) phew I'm buzzing.!
Still managed to take a peek at the challenge at Less is More and  found that this week it was Lime and Black and straight away I knew that I wanted to make another male card ( no surprise there then!)and try out my new goodies from SU so used the ties and sentiments from the Best Ever Dad set and I used the  colour lucky  limeade, from my stamper pens (love these sooo versatile!) and the sketch at CAS(E) this sketch gave  me the inspiration, but would you believe it I was too late to join their challenge it had closed ..aw well maybe next time!
Well off to make the tea ...enjoy the rest of your week! x

Masculine card featuring a gadget or tecnology

Its been a while since I joined in the Crafty Cardmakers challenges but when I saw that it was a masculine card and I had just done this one for a nephew so decided to enter it
I stamped the image in vintage sepia and then masked it and sprayed the blue (which is blue foodcolouring :-) and then mounted it .
Thanks for looking x

Circles

What a week!! before I start I must apologise for not getting round to very much commenting this last week as my two boys are both going away this week (one with  Uni and the other one with the school) and to top it all work has been manic so have been organising them and working overtime at work so little time to craft but when I saw this weeks CASology's cue card had to take part so that's why I'm doing this when everyone else is in bed - peace and quiet ah bliss!
Once again I seem to have made a male card( probably because my family is festooned with the male species with a very small sprinkling of girls usually the ones that they marry hee hee)  I haven't used this James Bond download for a very long time, it came from a magazine website and included the sentiment too.The stripy paper is from pink petticoat and my circles are diecuts .Thank you for looking and hope that wherever you are you are having a great weekend ! x

Flame

I have been thinking about this weeks challenge at CASology all week ,had heaps of ideas but due to work and other things never managed to get them done .So Friday night up I went to the cratfy room and ....settled down to do the card and nothing ,tidied a bit then  settled down again nothing this went on for a while gave up and consoled myself with a large glass of wine and a bag of crisps (and I wonder why I can't lose weight??)
Then this morning decided to to use this stamp with the tiny candle in it did try using flame colours but it didn't catch the eye as much as this one ,so would have binned it  - this one I can use for a masculine card.( and it will also tie in nicely with the Addicted to CAS challenge too hee he ) so though might not be quite what the challenge is looking for there is a flame there!
And welcome to my new follower Kristie. Thanks for joining me :-)
Hope you are all having a great weekend. x

Houses

(I can't believe how long this card has took...mind you it would have been a lot quicker if I hadn't done it as a layer first only realised my mistake when I was about to  post it - so it was back to the old drawing board!)

Any way the Less is More team ...(Welcome Jen great inspirational cards by the way ) are looking for houses, felt really clever because this lighthouse one popped straight in to my head , until I continued to scroll down and realised that Jen and Chrissie had the same idea  :-D!
This is an image that came on a cube stamp and had wanted to try embossing (thanks Chrissie for telling how to make the sandwich ) and also to use a blender pen on my SU marker pens but ended up using it with the pens and distress inks - and think it worked well with both. Another couple of techniques to add to my belt !
Something else I would like to learn is how to add above my 'add a comment' box a thank you message to say how much I appreciate all your comments,  can anyone help me with this please ?

Again I have been very lax with commenting but I am finding the tennis elbow gets worse when I spend too long on the computer so have to do it in short bursts...but at least I can still play! ha ha x

CAsology -Family

This weeks Casology challenge fitted perfectly with a card I had to make for my nephew this month  ,don't you just love that when it happens! my nephew turns 39 this year and has always hankered for a motor bike so that made it an easy card to make as I just happen to have the Su motor bike stamp!!.
I coloured it with denim blue promarkers and the sentiment is computer generated.
It's been hot here in Aberdeen and I have spent the day outside with the children from our nursery class and now looking forward to starting the weekend with a glass of wine and my sons homemade cottage pie .
Have a great weekend  x
