Last Christmas card ???

Front

Back view

How bad is this I forgot to do my MIL Christmas card ...oops !! I know that she likes it to be slightly different and a bit on the fancy side with bits and bobs (so not my style but i usually try!) but as I had to forego the fancy stuff thought I would do a fancy fold instead !happily she liked it.
Now off to do the last Muse Christmas vision before i go out for tea with friends

Muse 146

When I saw this weeks Muse card by Michele I burst out laughing it is just too.. cute for words and I loved it! and surprisingly for me I managed to get the 'big fellow' straight away, unfortunately that was the image that was going round and round my head when I should have been sleeping last night :)
(My card looked way better when it was going round and round in my head last night too btw)

I took inspiration from Michele's subtle nod to Santa by doing the same, and making his iconic suit with scraps of card and for the little elf - which I have none-  I went instead for the holly on his stocking , and just in case there was any doubt about who it was meant to be, I added the sentiment at the bottom .

(This will be my first card for 2016 Christmas so thanks Michele! )

Well off to see what I can fit into for the children's Christmas party tomorrow got to make the effort as they will all come dancing in ,in their party gear and I have already had many conversations about sparkly party dresses from the girls You've just got to love Christmas and wee ones hee he

Just wanted to wish you all A very merry Christmas and a Happy 2016 .....see you in the New Year!

Muse 145

At Muse it is Joan Bardee's turn to be our Muse .....and it is her last week as she is heading off to pastures new :(
I had originally thought of a baby card because I loved the soft and delicate look of  Joan's card but couldn't get it to work out so on to plan B,always got to have a plan B!....and that happened to be a christmas card for the one of my husband's cousins.Wasn't sure at first as it is a bit in your face but I think its beginning to grow on me and she is a very girly girl !Hopefully you can see where Joan inspired me but if not :) ......
I have used the colours of Joan's card just  deeper shades.(Melon mambo and lucky limeade)
A circle in the middle with image with in it (W9 images)
Dots
and I noticed Joan had used tiny sequins as a bit of bling so added some gems to my flowers
finally a bow
Elizstewart love your interpretation of Joan's card ...one day I will work out how to comment on Flickr!!!
Thank you for taking the time to look

MCV 30

There is something different going on over at the Muse Christmas Vision this week .We are being asked for a tag and to link it up with  Tracey McNeeley's 25 Days of Christmas tags - there is prizes galore ...Christmas coming early !

The theme is red with a Christmas tree (or other greenery)

Using Clearly Besotted santa baby stamps I made a tag to match a card and santa bag that I am giving to a friends little girl and to make it a little bit more Christmassy and fun for her added the jingle bells, I'm also  hoping it will be also work as an early warning system to her mum, just in case someone decides to have a wee peek !:)

Thanks for taking the time to have a look

Muse 143

This week it is Tracey's turn to be our host over at Muse this week and she has done a really cute christmas card ..love her little reindeer!

Unfortunately I don't have a little cutie like that so decided to go for the bauble
I stamped the little cottage image twice and then punched one out using my old SU bauble punch and matched it up,then lightly chalked the snow and gold embossed the sentiment  before mounting my red and white panels onto my card...can you spot my mistake ??? as I mounted it my liquid pearl snow hadn't quite dried and I smudged a couple but only the camera picks it up it's not so noticable in RL!

Well I made this card in a couple of hours and it has taken me twice that long to photograph the darned thing!!!

Thanks for taking the time to look

Really really loved betty's card this week over at Muse Christmas Visions thought it was just stunning! but I have very limited Christmas stash (in fact all my stash is quite limited ,though I am working on that!,have you checked out the DT craft rooms on Casology, they are showing their crafty spaces off .... and that is what I aspire to have one day hee he )and so this week I had nothing that fit the bill , so just had to keep it really simple!
I took my inspiration from Betty's :-

Colours
Gold sentiment
Holly and berries

Muse141

This week our Muse is Michele and she has done a beautiful card that incorporates a range of techniques so lots of choice!!!
My first choice was to go for what popped out at me which was the beautifully water coloured circles ...except when I tried , mine turned into muddy puddles!! :)

Which led me onto :-
Plan B... this was to still take inspiration from Michele's circles ,but  just to use a couple of punches instead!

I tried to follow Michel's colours, dots ( my new DP from MFT ) and gold embossed sentiment from Clearly Besotted.

Hope you all have a great weekend ...I'm sooo glad its finally here aren't you? we have had another busy week at work, and to top it off so far this week I've scalded my chest with hot coffee (dont ask how but I missed my mouth and it it poured down my front!) and yesterday it was really wet and stormy and I slipped on a leaf and fell  bruising my bottom( and my pride) and  clarted in mud...I trudged home a sorry sight dripping mud and with soggy knickers !!! :)... thank goodness it was dark that's all I can say! :)

But thanks for taking the time to look it is very much appreciated .

Muse 140

Ardyth is this week's Muse and when I saw her fun panda card I knew what I wanted to use but it didn't come easy I must admit and I ended up having penguins skating in all different directions all over my desk !But finally it came together .
I wanted it to look like the penguins were skating but one fell over onto his bottom and his hat was tossed in the air...did it work??? mmmm :)
The penguins and sentiment is from Mama Elephant and boy was that hat fiddly to cut .I loved how Ardyth has inked her bottom  panel to ground her panda's ,I used chalks I find these sooo much easier to use than inks for this kind of job !

I took my inspiration from :-
The movement and layout of Ardyth's pandas
The black and white focal images
The balloon in the air
Inked bottom panel
Sentiment under the images

I would also like to enter it over at the Playground  as the panel and that blooming hats are all snippets!

Many thanks for coming over and taking a look!
Eliz Stewart love your cute and playful dogs!

The Challenge # 48, CASologyand the Playground

My husband is feeling poorly ...its a cold!:) so we decided to have a lazy day ...Yay means I got to play in between housework etc and I had been browsing through my favourite blogs and I found that The Challenge this week is all about weddings .

Great, I have to make a anniversary card thought that I would give it a go.,,and this is what I came up with so not only made one that said for anniversary I made another one for a wedding day too !.
Must admit on my phone the & in this picture looked more silver than it does on the table top one ..oops but I did stamp the heart with a 'flowery' stamp (clearly besotted) so hopefully that is enough inspiration from the photo to qualify!
My sentiment is from Mama Elephant.

It is also a while since I played over at CASology and the cue word is :-

Perfect so will be entering my card over there too.
Finally I would like to add my card over at the Playground  as I have been playing hooky lately and have missed all the fun behind the bikesheds! :(
Thanks for taking the time to look

Another week at the Muse Christmas Vision blog and a guest designer ,Brigit has given us TWO beautiful inspirational cards !I choose to take my inspiration from the the one above ...awesome colouring by the way Brigit!

- square card panel popped rather than inverted.
- birds, like Brigit mine are wearing a santa hat and sitting on a branch.
-Sentiment in the corner.

I coloured mine with promarkers and flex markers (prefer these to promarkers so flexible for tiny bits!) and added some 'snow glitter' to their hats.
I used a new stamp set from Hobby Arts
and the sentiment is from Mama Elephant

Sieze the birthday

I came across Anita in France's beautiful card for the Seize the Birthday challenge where they are asking for a Birthday card with a topping of a pocket card.
Found myself intrigued me so I popped over to see what was going on... and glad I did fabulous cards from the DT and then decided to give it a go.

With the new James Bond movie out and trying my very best to persuade my husband that our boys would much prefer to go with him than I would (well wouldn't you!) it was the first thing to pop into my mind ,so decided to make a card for an upcoming birthday .My idea is to pop some money into the pocket along with tag ...must remember to tell him to check out the pocket though!

I think my card is self explanatory, my James Bond is a magazine download that has seen a lot of service over the years!! Used snippets to make the pocket and the bowtie and finished with orange sequins ...think they might have been influence by the time of the year :)

Muse 139

I just loved Tracey's simply gorgeous Muse card this week and couldn't wait to get upstairs and start creating.I made one card but felt there was just something missing  (although my son  said that he liked it way better than they one I'm posting!!)so I'll let you let you decide which one you prefer!!:)

The first one I covered it with vellum and used the same image and  inks and blender pen as my posted card...did I ever tell you that I just looove using inks and a blender pen....ok maybe I have said this before :)

I really like the second one I did ,so much so that I couldn't stop faffing and had to do a huge save as I put a huge mucky fingerprint on the front grrr. With this one I used TIm Holtz watercolour paper (rough side) to stamp and heat emboss my image before colouring and popping up on fun foam.
Both cards took inspiration from Tracey's :-

Colours
2 Flowers ( I used Clearly Besotted)
Sentiment (by Clearly Besotted)
Different sized fonts
Sequins
Panel
Also think I will join in over at the Playground its been ages ( I've been playing hooky sorry!)..... and I just saw that it is week 200! and Di has generously put up 3 prizes !!!! for this amazing landmark. Thanks Di .

Hi there, finally have time to post my card for the Muse Christmas Visions.!

I loved Betty's traditional colours and theme on this weeks card and I being me I made a more watered down version !

But I did take inspiration  from Betty's card by using the following :-

bells
holly
colours
music script
&
Supplies used :-
,memory box bells
su music roller

Thanks for taking the time to look

Would also like to say to ElizStewart if your looking I am a big fan and would love to comment on your cards ..I'm assuming that iIwould have to follow you??? never sure with flickr x

Muse 138

I have been trying to get my card finished all week for the challenge over at Muse.
Sometimes you see a card and you think wow love that ! Anitas  Muse card this week was one of those but couldn't think how to do one that wasn't a straight case !

So decided to go with the dotty background and you will note Michele that I have used dotty DP ( well DP in my case really  stands for a digi paper pink petticoats to be precise!)- found it when I was looking for that flowery one.Backed it in black and cut out a circle to mimic Anitas layout. Then took the colours of her flowers and finally added a sentiment with roughly the same meaning ..don't seem to have an amazing one.

Sorry about the photograph thought the layout  looked better as a landscape card but I haven't yet worked out how to get a good photograph of that yet, will try again tomorrow ...but you get the idea I hope!

Muse 137

I think every one knows how bad I am at using DP :) but love seeing how others just seem to pop it on a card and it looks beautiful .You just have to look at Michele's Muse inspiration card to have card envy , this is one cute card and look how clever... the typewriters instantly convey the message ! - but sorry still not converted  Michele :)

Rather than a typewriter I used the computer image from a Paper smooches set to link in with the keyboard of the typewriter, - and because my hubby works in computers and sometimes you just have to tell them how much you appreciate them!
.Next I stamped the image randomly in similar colours to the DP paper, and added hearts to the screens and on the sahara sand ones added the sentiment 'I <3 U' ( 'I love you' in case you are like me and need a helping hand with all this texting speak...I thought LOL meant lots of love for a really long time !) from the same set (though when I cut the rectangle out you can only see the one that is mostly hidden...typical !)
Mounted it on black card and placed it back in a card base before adding the speech bubble sentiment....
Before I finish just wanted to show a couple of  picture from our wee break it shows that when the sun shines in Scotland how beautiful it can really look!
took this while the car was moving and shows the road that went on for 45 mins to our hotel and each turn saw another beautiful and different view

MCV22

This week our Muse for MCV is Marilyn Cotter and she has done such a beautiful and traditional card ...well it is here, fingers crossed the snows are late coming this year :)
I LOVED  that sentiment btw !!!!

For my card I took inspiration from the Snowman of course,( I used three as I wanted to also use a friend type sentiment for my card) the snowman was from a bargain bin and cost a £1! and has sat about for nearly a whole year waiting to be used.

I coloured using promarkers ,their scarf's to match Marilyns ornaments, and used a Clearly Besotted holly stamp to pop on to their hats .I blended some sky with chalks and versamarked some snowflakes onto it and cut it out using lawn fawn stitched rectangles. (The sentiment is from Mama Elephant ) and added it to a white card before putting it on to a navy card base - which I thought was what Marilyn had used but I now see it was black ...oops!

The next step was the photo  ... I have been all over the house trying to get a decent one,as this is something I do all the time I'm sure I must have the dullest/darkest house in Aberdeen........even a daylight lamp doesn't help and picasa can only brighten so far !:(

But thanks for looking

Muse 135

(This is a better photo more true to the colours)

I know you must be wondering what my card has to do with this weeks Muse challenge ,but I promise it does ... well I think so anyway!

I really thought that I wouldn't manage to take part this week as I no idea where to go ...could I make a card with a fun sentiment ,autumn colours or leaves, flowers, design paper ,kraft, coffee (well the last was out had no coffee stamps etc)..... the list went on and on there are so many ways to go with Tracey's really clever and fun card.
But no I went for what kept catching my eye ...
I took my inspiration from Tracey's designer paper!

I tried to match the colours of the paper  and the way the flowers went, starting with white and then Su pool party and pumkin pie.The card base is lost lagoon but the sun (yes we have had even more sun here yay!) has made it lighter looking. To finish I placed my sentiment under and to the side and no,I wasn't brave enough to stamp directly on the card! :)
Hopefully you can now see where this weeks Muse took me

MCV21 and cas on Sunday

After the almighty struggle with the Muse card  last week, this one for Muse Christmas Visions sort of made itself and I think I have incorporated most of the same elements that our very, very talented Guest Designer Ingrid Blackburn has used !!

I started by using a SU roller to make the holly, then over - stamped that with some script using 'old paper' distress ink.I then mounted it on black card, made a banner and heat embossed my sentiment in gold and snipped the ends to make it flag tailed. Next I cut out a sprig of holly and adding some red sequins for berries
.Now I really like a simple panel in the middle -as you know! :) - but this time it seemed to lack something .So found a scrap of dotty embossed card (thanks Michele for reminding me about using my embossing folders! ) and mounted it on that.... And totally different from my usual style but think I actually like it !
Think this would also qualify for the CAS on Sunday challenge as they are asking  for polka dots as their theme.

Thanks for taking the time to look

Muse 134

The Muse card this week is by the talented Anita.

When I saw Anita's soft and delicate card I just loved it,who wouldn't simply beautiful, but not so simple for me I'm afraid found this a real challenge! I have spent all week trying different ideas until finally I came up with this, not sure if I like it and so was in two minds whether to post it .
Problem is I think its missing more of Anita's elements than there is on it !!!
But I did take inspiration from -

The colours pink, blue and green.I used chalks to get the softness and originally heat embossed the sentiment but it took the colours of the chalks and just looked grubby. So just stamped with the versamark instead.Liked that better and loved the look when I rubbed some directly onto the paper (that's the splatter look btw) and manage to fix it there with hair spray :)

Central panel (eh the black is still sitting in my desk, sorry Anita had a senior moment)

White circles -well that's my sequins! :)

Playing cards with Michele and friends

When Michele asked me to play cards with her I said yes please ! but this is a first for me and never having done it before I got it slightly wrong :( that is why we are CASing one of Michele's card ...weeeeell she did tell me to pick a card that I adored!

I loved Michele's CTS card and her feel better one ,and so wanted to give it a go but the one idea I kept coming up with was for  a masculine card and so here it is:-

Firstly,I cut two panels using a spellbinders die so they were the same height, then using my stamp-a-majig I stamped my image in black. Then stamped it again using versamark which I heat embossed  with clear embossing powder as  I wanted to keep that side of the image really crisp(but not sure if you can see it on the photo sorry) then on the red panel I stamped  in versamark and heat embossed it in white ...did the same mistake as you Michele and forgot to use my embosssing buddy!- finally stamped my sentiment ,trimmed my panels so they fitted over each other , and mounted them on black cardstock
Can't wait to see what everyone else has come up with!

Time Out

While browsing the current challenges I found that the Time Out challenge this week is to CASe Tracey's soft and delicate looking card .
Well today I was just in the mood for some colouring in ,I find it very soothing after a busy day at work.

My inspiration came from Tracey's ;-
  vellum ,
white embossing
colours ( I used 3 similar colours ),
image, centre stage
  sentiment black and under image

I stamped my favourite image for colouring in from Clearly Besotted heat embossed it in white and using distress inks and a blender pen coloured on top of the vellum. To add my own twist I took another favourite of mine a popped up panel and before I put it all together,  stamped the sentiment... squint! so yes the sentiment is a save, but I do like this sentiment feel it can do all sorts of occasions birthdays sympathy ,get well ...well you get the idea:)
Thanks for taking the time to look

MCV 20

This week it the talented Betty Wrights turn to be the Muse over at Muse:Christmas Vision and she made a very traditional Christmas card .
I took my inspiration from her wreath and using W9's woodland wreath first stamped with Su lucky limeade on cream card stock  and  this stamp set has a woody wreath too ,so stamped that in the middle. I liked the sequins going round the wreath but my wreath is quite small so they looked too big so settled for using one of the small flower stamps in the set and die cut them out and mounted them to give a bit of dimension. It looked a bit bare but with flowers all around it needed something to balance it out so I used the bow stamp as my focal point at the bottom of my card .
I then added my sentiment in the centre as Betty had.
I diecut red paper  and cream cardstock with lawn fawn stitched rectangles and mounted it onto a red card base.
Before I go I would like to ask a question I see some truly beautiful cards on flickr and would love to comment but for the life of me I cant find how too,can anyone tell me how its done?

Thanks for taking the time to look
